Be as accomplished and skilful as you are. But when it comes to writing music. Have the MENTALITY of a beginner. Don't overthink if that snare is 3db to loud, or if those instruments aren't supposed to be together.

Outsource from experts or people that are better than you, and learn from them. That's the best way to progress and make a living from music! Find your expertise, but also develop your other skills. It's equally as important.
